PURPOSE:To manufacture a composite gas permeable membrane possible to use as it is without separating the extremely thin film, by applying a water-soluble polymer having functional groups to the surface of a porous substrate, and by allowing this substrate to contact with an atmosphere of vapor of multifunctional cross-linking agent. CONSTITUTION:A water-soluble polymer such as polyethylene-imine, PVA, amine- denatured polyepihalohydrin, is uniformly applied to about 0.5-10mum a thickness to the surface of skin layer of a porous substrate (polysulfone, cellulose ester, etc.) having 10-100Angstrom surface pore diameter and about 20-300mum thickness. Within about 5min after application, thus prepared blank of gas permeable membrane is allowed to contact with the atmoshere of vapor of cross-linking agent. As the multifunctional cross-linking agent, a polymer having the prescribed vapor pressure at <=100 deg.C such as isophthaloyl chloride vapor, 2.4-tolylene diisocyanate, for example, is employed; the cross-linking takes place at 5-90 deg.C by allowing to contact for 0.1-3,600sec and an extremely thin film is formed on the surface of the porous substrate. |
