The invention relates to machines for gas or liquid displacement, containing a mechanism without connecting rod for transformation of piston reciprocating motion into work shaft rotary motion or vice versa. The piston-type machine contains a body (1), two oppositely placed cylinders (22) and (23), pistons (20) and (21), coupled by a common rod (19), and a mechanism for transformation of piston reciprocating motion into work shaft rotary motion and vice versa, including two pairs of gear-wheels, a crankshaft (12) with pin (17), articulately joined with the common rod (19). The mechanism for motion transformation additionally includes two half-shafts (6) and (7) placed into the supports of the body (1) symmetrically about the common rod (19) and joined between them by the crankshaft (12). The pairs of gear-wheels are symmetrically placed about the common rod (19). One of the gear-wheel of each pair is planetary (13), rigidly mounted onto the crankshaft (12) and placed into the groove made into the half-shaft (6), is in engagement with the other gear-wheel û sun (15), rigidly installed into the body (1).
