Prodn. of an inoculum (A) comprises dehydrating cultures of appropriate microorganisms by adding a hydrophilic molecular sieve, so as to temporarily inactivated them, then adding enzymes specific for lysis of long-chain organic material, anhydrous excipients and a powdered nonionic dispersant (I). Pref. dehydration is with a zeolite used at 4-8 wt. times on the cultures and (I) is esp. stearyl alcohol condensed with about 50 units of ethylene oxide. Specified enzymes are protease, amylase, lipase and cellulose, and the pref. microorganisms are Enterobacter cloacae (EC); Pseudomonas fluorescens (PF); Serratia marcescens (Sm); Bacillus cereus (BC) and B.Subtilis (BS). (A) themselves are also claimed. (A) are used for re-equilibration of septic tanks and effluent purificn. digesters. They have high specific activity, good storage properties, and unlike freeze-dried formulations, can be mass prod. inexpensively. The addn. of (I) ensures rapid dispersal.
|
