Device for the continuous, extracorporal separation of specific substances from blood

The device has a clearly improved effect because it is only blood plasma which is passed through the means for removal of the undesirable substances. The device comprises separation means (3) for the continuous separation of plasma and blood cells, a removal means (5) for the removal of the specific substances from the separated plasma, and means (6) for back-mixing of the plasma. The removal means (5) may have an adsorber which contains either insoluble or immobilised substances for the adsorption of specific substances. The removal agents may also comprise a dialyser, so that the device can be employed as an artificial kidney.
