<p>The jig comprises a vehicle on which a horizontal plate can be adjusted vertically. On the plate is a vertical pivot for a horizontal frame which can be swivelled through 360 deg. and carries a hydraulic or pneumatic hammer used to exert force on a traverse. The traverse is joined by two tie rods to a coupling plate with claws, which can be located behind lugs on a tuyere. Hammer blows on the traverse loosen the tuyere so it can be drawn out of a blast furnace. To fit a new tuyere in the furnace, the horizontal frame is rotated 180 deg., so the hammer and coupling plate can push the tuyere into the furnace casing.</p> |
