HAND GRIP OPERATED VARIABLE SURGICAL SUCTION APPARATUS

Surgical suction apparatus for applying suction to surgical debris to clear a surgical wound and including structure for clearing any surgical debris lodged in the entrance aperture of the apparatus and which structure may also be used to vary the effective size of the entrance aperture to vary the suction applied to the surgical debris. The surgical apparatus contains a plurality of radially disposed suction holes (23), (150) and are axially disposed such that the smaller sized suction holes are in forward section of a cylindrical member to form a filter. Larger suction holes are to the rear portion of the cylinder such that the sliding forward of a second tube (18) the number and size of radially disposed suction holes are thereby decreased thereby decreasing the level of suction applied and focusing the suction at the forward end of a first tube (20). A second tube (18), (122) slides in relation to the first tube (16), (120) by applying force to the handgrip (24), (172) so as to increase or decrease the number and size radially disposed suction holes.
