<p>A laundry bag, esp., for hospital use to prevent infection of persons handling the bag, is of polyvinyl alcohol foil in two different layers ; the inner layer is soluble in cold water and the outer is soluble in warm water and the bag is closed and sealed by seal welds along the inner layer. Pref. the two wall layers are produced simultaneously by extrusion in the form of co-extrusion. The seam immediately dissolves in the initial cold water wash and therefore opens the bag; after this the remainder of the bag becomes dissolved in the hot water and is flushed away with it. The simplicity of prodn. results in a reduced number of rejected bags.</p> |
