PURPOSE:To enable a condition free of smear by an ink ribbon during printing to be maintained for a long time, by winding a protective sheet around a roller in a rolled form, and connecting one end of the sheet to a roller on the other side so that the sheet can be taken up. CONSTITUTION:A card holder 1 is disposed between a printing paper 13 set on a platen 2 and a printing head 14, and is fixed to a carrier 16. A ribbon cassette 17 is mounted in position, with an ink ribbon 9 therein matched to ribbon guides 3, 4 of the card holder 1. Printing on the paper 13 is conducted by a printing head 14 through the ink ribbon 9. In this case, contaminants on the paper 13 is wiped off by a protective sheet 5 on the card holder 1. When the protective sheet 13 is deteriorated through abrasion due to long-time use, the sheet 13 is taken up by a predetermined length by rotating the ribbon guide 4. |
