PURPOSE:To make possible to detect the wear of the tread of each wheel quickly and precisely as it is assembled in a car by using a rail of particular shape for the rail at a measuring point and converting the variation of the inclination of a tread contacting body following the gradient of the tread of the wheel passing the point. CONSTITUTION:A base 12 whose upper surface is formed into a concave curved surface of partial arc is fixed to a base plate 11, and on the base, a tread contacting body 13 whose lower surface is formed into a convex curved surface coaxial with said concave surface is mounted via plural rollers 14, thus forming a tread following surface on which a railway car can run and pass. On the sides of the contacting body 13, balancing side plates 16 are provided, and resilient bodies 18 are mounted between the plates and said base plate 11 so that the tread following surface 17 may change its inclination around the axis of the rail following the gradient of the tread of a wheel to be tested. Furthermore, a bracket 20 is provided projecting from the balancing side plate 16, and an enlarging link 21 which enlarges and transmits the vertical displacement of the tip of the bracket and a differential transformer 22 connected with the end of said link are provided to convert the change of the inclination of said treated following surface 17 into electrical signals. |
