PURPOSE:To improve cleaning effect by cleaning the part near the layer thickness regulating member which regulates the thickness of the developer layer to be held on the surface of a developer holding member. CONSTITUTION:A cleaning member 5 which is disposed near the doctor blade 4 in a developer hopper 7 and revolves in an arrow (c) direction is provided. A flexible brush 6 is formed to the edge part of the leading end of this member 5, and the developer coagulated matter, paper dust, etc. accumulated in the gap between the doctor blade 4 and a developing sleeve 2 or near the doctor blade 4 are removed by the periodic rotation of the cleaning member 5. The coagulated developer lumps are agitated and dissociated. The developer near the blade 4 is flowed always smoothly in each longitudinal part of the blade by this, and the uniform thin developer layer T2 of uniform thickness by always fresh development is formed on the sleeve surface. |
