Reservoir for a fluid under pressure - has lenticular form with wasted breakable safety bolt preventing rupture

The reservoir or pressure vessel (1) is constructed in three sections (5,6). Each section is fabricated from two halves and the separate sections are welded together to form a vessel with a lenticular shape. This form is suitable for L.P.G. storage below the boot of a gas powered automobile. The vessel has a safety bolt (15) passing through it having a reduced cross section (16). The bolt is designed to fail if the internal pressure reaches a predetermined level. This will allow the vessel to deform, toward a spherical shape and prevent a rupture.
