A 6-aminopenicillanic acid ester of the general formula I wherein R represents a methyl group or a phenyl group, or its acid addition salts. The aminopenicillanic acid ester or its acid addition salts is prepared by reacting 6-aminopenicillanic acid or its salts at the carboxyl group with a compound of general formula III wherein R is as defined above and X represents a halogen atom, or by reacting 6-protected aminopenicillanic acid or its salt at the carboxyl group with the compound of general formula III and then converting the protected amino group of the reaction product to an amino group. The present invention also provides the use of the aminopenicillanic acid ester of general formula I for the production of an Ampicillin ester of general formula II wherein R represents a methyl group or a phenyl group, or its acid addition salt. |
