The principal application of the proposed connection arrangement is to earth conductors bars. The bar (22) is suitably connected to points inside the distribution box, and has, spaced along its length, a series of tapped holes (24) for terminal screws. Covering the bar is a loose covering strip (30) which extends round the sides of the bar, the strip is thus of channel shaped cross-section. Spaced along the surface of the strip at the same pitch as the tapped holes in the bar are openings. The openings (33) are formed by punching through the material round three sides and then bending the resulting tongue out at 90 degrees (35,36). Each tapped hole is bounded by two tongues. To connect a cable it is divided either side of the connecting screw and a rectangular clamp plate fitted between cable and screw head. The screw can now be tightened in the tapped hole whilst the cable and clamp plate assembly are prevented from turning by the tongues (35,36). As all connections lie neatly in line it is possible to make full use of all the connecting points on the rail.
|
