<p>PURPOSE:To enhance coal utilization and to facilitate an inert gas for use in reactivation of used activated carbon to be obtained, by combining an activated carbon reactivation step and an SO2 containing gas reduction step using coal. CONSTITUTION:Activated carbon with SOx adsorptivity decayed (inactivated carbon, from this) is fed from the top of reactivating tower 1, and an inert gas free from oxygen is introduced from pipe 2 to contact both of them at comparatively low temperatures, such as 300-400 deg.C. The inactivated carbon releases SO2 and is reactivated. The SO2-containing gas enters pipe 3, and moving bed type coal packed tower 4, where said gas is brought into contadt with the coal in the moving bed, and SO2 in the gas is reduced into a simple vaporized sulfur S. The coal discharged from the bottom of tower 4 in a state converted into semicoke is fed into inert gas generating furnace 9 from its top to form the moving bed, waste combustion gas desulfurized is fed into this furnace 9 from pipe 10, and the gas thus inactivated is sent into pipe 2.</p> |
