PURPOSE:To hold the recording density invariably constant by forming a clock pattern by magnetic stripe surface in the vertical direction and then by writing data synchronizing with a card running speed while reading the clock pattern. CONSTITUTION:Near the center of magnetic stripe 5 provided on magnetic card 3, clock pattern 4 is formed during the run of a card before data are recorded. Then, clock reading head 1 and data writing head 11 are arranged along card 3 in series; a clock signal read by head 1 is inputted to arithmetic control circuit 8 to calculate a card running speed from the pitch of clock pattern 1 and writing head 11 is driven synchronizing with said processing to perform writing operation. Therefore, even if the manual running speed of card 3 has variance, prescribed data can be written with constant recording density. |
