A submersible pump is provided to remove debris from the suction port readily by rotating the impeller reversely when the controller detects overload due to the accumulation of debris. A submersible pump(1) installed in a reservoir in which the sewage or waste water is stored comprises a pump body(10) in which an impeller(15) is installed to rotate, and a controller(20) electrically connected to the pump body. The pump body includes a suction port(11) formed on the bottom and an outlet(12) to which a discharge pipe(13) is connected. The controller is composed of a first switch setting up the current corresponding to overload at which impeller is rotated reversely, a second switch setting up the duration of reverse rotation of the impeller, a third switch setting up a trip time after the overload occurrence, and a fourth switch setting up the number of reverse rotation of the impeller.
