The rapid action clamp secures a container to a vehicle and has a foldable clamping hook (16) pivoted under the centre of the load surface and gripping a slotted tag (14) under the centre of the container. A locating bracket (15) protrudes out of the load surface and the hook closes against it to secure the container. The bracket can be folded flat to take conventional loads on the vehicle. With the centre clamping hook the vehicle can take different sizes of container with the weight centrally mounted.
