摘要 PURPOSE:A yeast in Rhodotorula, capable of producing itaconic acid, is aerobically cultured in a medium containing carbon sources that the yeast can assimilate and itaconic acid is collected from the culture mixture. CONSTITUTION:Rhodotorula spicies SY-668 (FERM-P No. 5318) or SY-718 (FERM-P No. 5319) is aerobically cultured in a medium containing a carbon source the strain can assimilate, e.g., glucose, sucrose and other saccharides, a nitrate salt, a nitrogen source such as peptone, and inorganic nutrients. Itaconic acid is isolated and collected through usual processes such as centrifugation, ion-exchange resin method, concentration, filtration and other operations.
