PURPOSE:The titled composition with excellent flame proofness, giving a molded product excellent in mechanical strength, heat resistance and colorability, which is obtd. by the addition of platinum (compd.), a carboxylic acid amide, an org. peroxide, and, if necessary, CeO2 or Ce(OH)2. CONSTITUTION:A flame-retardant silicone rubber composition is obtd. by compounding (A) 100pts.wt. organo polysiloxane having average unit of formula RaSiO4-a/2 [wherein R is a (subst.)monovalent hydrocarbon gp.; a=1.95-2.05], (B) 0-150pts.wt. finely powedred silica filler (e.g., fine quartz or diatom earth), (C) 1-2,000ppm, based on component A, of platinum or a platinum compd. contg. the same amt. of platinum (e.g., platinum powder or chloroplatinic acid), (D) a carboxylic acid amide (e.g. formamide or urea), (E) an org. peroxide (e.g., benzoly peroxide) and, if necessary, (F) 0.1-10pts.wt. CeO2 or Ce(OH)2. The addition of the component D in addition to the component C, enhances flame retardancy, and the addition of the component F further increases the effect caused by said component D. |
