Porous article claimed has an open-cell foam structure, pref of polyurethane, in which bridges and channels are coated by rubber or latex. The article is produced by first generating a foam structure, the cells of which are opened by reticulation. The open-cell foam is the wetted with a coagulating compsn and immersed in rubber latex. The open-cell foam pref contains max 100 (less than 30) pores/ sq. in Before wetting with coagulating compsn., the article is given its external shape. Reticulation is omitted on using initially open-celled foams. The articles are used as conveyor belt coatings and cleaning beads, e.g. for tubes. The articles combine resistance to hydrolysis with strength. |
