<p>A liquid separator (droplets separator) for gases, esp. air, consists of a cylindrical vessel with axial air inlet; a twist generator mounted in this inlet has the form of a conical block with helical ribs or grooves on its surface. Pref., the surface or generator of this block is curved inwards. Pref. the apex of the block points downwards into the inlet and the inlet pipe is shaped at the top to correspond to the block. The ribs may be in the form of guide blades. The conical block and the inlet pipe may be axially adjustable relative to each other, more specifically as a function of the upstream pressure. In the prior art, the air was deflected outwards by a series of concentric blades, giving optimum separation only within a narrow range of flow, the new arrangement provides a high efficiency of sepn. with a low pressure loss over a wide range of flow rates.</p> |
