<p>The impetus drive mechanism uses an inwards force to move a body along a flat elliptical path. During operation of the mechanism the centre, at which the force is aimed, is moved to and fro. An initial rotation impulse is given to the body in the desired direction. The design converts lengthwise movements with explosion-type impulses at one or both ends mechanically into rotary movement. The body may be connected by a cord or chain to the central point, which moves in a short straight line.</p> |
