Cooling apparatus for use with cable sheathing equipment 3 for cooling plastics sheathing which is extruded onto strand-like material 1. The sheathed material passes through a vertical cooling section 4 until the sheathing has been cooled down to such an extent that the material can be deflected out of its direction of movement, with minimum traction forces. The sheathed material is then fed to a rotating cylindrical continuous- feed-type storage means 6 having a horizontal or approximately horizontal axis of rotation, and around which the windings are formed having a diameter which is greater than that of the rotating cylinder 6, support means 7 ensures approximately equal winding diameters and the storage means 6 rotates in a water bath or is sprayed with water on all sides in a container 5. <IMAGE> |
