<p>PURPOSE:To produce cast iron of less sulfur contents with good efficiency by feeding the blast heated by heat-exchanging with an exhaust gas into the part of a vertical type shaft furnace near its bottom and filling solid carbon of less sulfur contents in the hearth. CONSTITUTION:The reduced iron charged into a vertical type shaft furnace 1 through a charge inlet 2 descends in the furnace 1, and melts in the part below a gas take-out port 6 and contacts the solid carbon of less sulfur contents such as electrode graphite filled in the hearth. This molten iron is taken out through a tapping hole 3. The exhaust gas taken out from an exhaust gas take-out port 6 is ignited with an ignition burner 10 by the air fed from a secondary combustion air hole 11 and makes secondary combustion to have further increased temp., thereby heating the hot air from a cold blast inlet 9 to obtain hot blast in a radiation type heat exchanger 7. This hot blast is fed into the furnace 1 through a tuyere 4 via a hot blast outlet 8 and a blast pipe 5. On the other hand, the exhasut gas cooled by the heat exchanging is conducted to a chimney through an exhaust gas outlet 12.</p> |
