<p>Paint base comprises (a) 10-70% of a mixt. of silicone resin, thinner, turpentine and alkyd resin and (b) 90-30% alkyd resin. Pref. component (a) contains ca. 35% silicone resin, 10% thinners, 45% turpentine and 10% alkyd resin, and is made by thoroughly mixing the components. Component (a) is then thoroughly mixed with component (b). Prods. are 'ML silicone sealants' which can be compounded with pigments to give coating compsns. which after drying give excellent adhesion, heat resistance, wear resistance and resistance to the passage of moisture. They are useful e.g. for exterior and interior painting of walls and for waterproofing cellars.</p> |
