The coffin automatically exposes, to fresh air, a person presumed dead and showing signs of life. It is in two parts (1,3) one inside the other, mounted in an inclined position whose separation is initiated by feeble movements of the limbs and thorax, these coupled to the release (7,7a,8) by lightweight flexible ropes (9,10,11). The outer part can have two doors (2) at the end with sealing joints, held in place by elastic links (6). The inner part can be maintained in the highest possible position inside the outer one by a retracting arm (7a) actuated by a lever.
