PURPOSE:To obtain a reproduced picture without information loss, by advandcing or returning the signal converter in the part recorded during a prescribed vertical blanking period, in the forward mode or backward mode. CONSTITUTION:In the double forward mode, (a)-(d) are parts recorded during vertical blanking periods, and (a) is the switching part for reproducing tracking signals fp1 and fp2 and is the recording part of reproducing tracking signal fp3 as an index signal. The scanning locus of the reproducing stylus is shown by the solid line and is kicked toward the inside circumference in vertical blanking period (c). Thus, a double reproduced picture without information loss is obtained. In the backward mode, although the kick pulse to transfer the reproducing stylus forcedly toward the outside circumference by one-track components and the switching pulse to switch the polarity of the tracking servo circuit are necessary, the operation in this mode is differs from that in the forward mode only in having the kick pulse of the opposite polarity.
