The pump or fluid-operated motor comprises a stator housing (1-3) with internal teeth (11) meshing with a lesser number of external teeth on an eccentrically precessing gear ring (10). The ring is internally contoured to form a number of trochoid valleys for a lesser number of edges on the outer surface of a multi-edged rotor (9) on a shaft (5) concentrically carried in bearings (4,6) in the stator housing. Fluid inlet and outlet to the spaces between the gear ring and the rotor are controlled by a ported disc (7,8) (or discs) arranged on the shaft at one (or at both) ends in the housing.
