The intelligent networks applied to AMI systems during the inner processes performed in the data packet assembly and the transference thereof by different means, are facing multiple problems such as: that the media understand the same communication protocols, transmit the information at the same speed, selection of the suitable medium amongst others; causing in many cases loss of data or drop in the communication links, therefore arising media converters with the purpose of having communication with different equipment although these speak through different protocols or communication forms. The purpose of a converter is to receive a plurality of data packets entered into the converter by a communication protocol such as RS232, RS422, RS485, RF (radiofrequency), Ethernet, amongst others; and the output of data that may be in a communication protocol different from the input medium, with the purpose of establishing communication between equipment with different communication protocols, the use of these converters helping technology developers for AMI systems to solve communication problems found in field, since the electric power supplying companies acquire different technologies and brands applied to the Advanced Metering Infrastructure over the years. |
