Lightweight weather-resistant terrestrial solar generator - has solar cells embedded in flexible plastics with metal support and protective cover

Terrestrial solar generator for electrical energy generation in weather-resistant lightweight construction uses a light metal plate as mechanical support, which is electrically insulated from the voltage generator. The solar cell complex is embedded on all sides in a flexible, light- and weather-resistant plastics on the supporting plate and covered with a transparent, light- and weather-resistant protective layer, the embedding material also acting as adhesive for the cover. The support is pref. a (hard) anodised Al plate and has an organic, electrically insulating anticorrosion coating. The embedding material is a transparent silicone rubber or a reactive resin based on unsatd. polyester, acrylate, polyurethane or epoxide resin. The cover can consist of a PVF, or polyvinylidene fluoride film or a polycarbonate film or panel. The generator can be produced in one stage, e.g. in a press process. The generator is insensitive to fracture and temp. fluctuations and much lighter than usual. The metal plate removes the heat produced more rapidly than usual, reducing the temp.-dependent loss of power of the solar cells.
