A method of making a form of a desired shape, for use in an investment casing technique which comprises; (a) forming a first sheet of formable material to be a shape which approximates to the desired shape of the form; (b) disposing the formed shape around a layer of deformable hardenable material; (c) applying a compressive force to the formed shape to deform the underlying hardenable material to a desired shape; (d) hardening the hardenable material to produce a form precursor; (e) removing the formed shape from the hardened form presursor; and (f) utilising the hardened form precursor to form a second sheet of formable material into the form of the desired shape. The invention also includes a method of making dental crowns by an investment casting technique utilising the form produced by this method. |
