The spark plug for an internal combustion engine (1) has a conventional upper body, and a central solid cylindrical electrode (2) extending axially through the metal casing. The earth electrode (3) comprises a flat ring with a central hole (5) surrounding the axial electrode (2). The ring is made with one, two, or three small tabs (4) extending from its edge in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the ring. The tabs are used to support the ring, being welded to the main body of the plug. The design simplifies manufacture to the extent that it can be done by machine.
|
