摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain titled resin being capable of scavenging selectively alkali metal ions and being useful as a nonionic resin for metal ion adsorption, by reacting a polyethylene glycol dialkoxide with a halomethylated crosslinked polystyrene. CONSTITUTION:A polymer in which polyoxyethylene units form ether linkages within a molecule of crosslinked polyestyrene or between its molecules and which is represented by formula II (schematically shown) by reacting a polyethylene glycol dialkoxide of formula I, wherein m is 3-10 and X is an alkali metal atom, with a halomethylated polystyrene (one prepared by use of a crosslinking agent such as divinylbenzene or dimetachcrylic acid ethylene glycol ester and having a crosslinking degree of 1% or higher). This polymer has a scavenging capacity selective for alkali metal ions, alkaline earth metal ions and ammonium ions; is useful as a nonionic adsorptive resin for metal ions and can also be used as a phase transfer catalyst or a column packing for liquid chromatography.
