NEW MATERIAL:An optically active tetraamine cobalt (III) complex of formula I (Et is ethyl). USE:Useful for bioinorganic chemistry due to various physiological actions, e.g. DNA synthesis inhibitory mechanism, matamorphotic ability and respiration inhibitory ability against bacillus coli, incorporation mechanism into microbial cells or inhibitory action on enzymes taking part in the DNA precursor synthesis. PROCESS:A tetraethylcyclene hydrobromide of formula II (Et is ethyl) is adjusted to neutral conditions with an alkali, e.g. NaOH or KOH, in the presence of cobalt (II) bromide and then oxidized with air to give the compound of formula I. |
