PURPOSE:To aim at suitably operating a hydraulic booster by enabling a reaction piston having its forward end making contact with an output rod and its rear surface receiving hydraulic pressure from an outlet hydraulic chamber, to slide with respect to a valve piston through the intermediary of a spring urging the reaction piston rearward so that play gaps between parts may be adsorbed. CONSTITUTION:A booster mechanism B adapted to be operated by a brake pedal through an actuating rod 57 is provided at the rear end of a master cylinder 8, and hydraulic pressure is introduced into a booster cylinder 32 from an inlet port section 43 through an inlet valve 44 by means of a booster piston 35 and a valve piston 52 which are slidably with respect to each other, so as to operate the booster mechanism. A reaction piston 65 is disposed between the valve piston 52 and the outlet rod 61 of the booster piston 35, and is urged rearward by a spring 68. With this arrangement, during initial stage of operation of the actuating rod by a brake pedal, play gaps between parts may be absorbed until the reaction piston 65 is advanced overcoming the urging force of the spring 68, thereby it is possible to perform suitable braking operation. |
