PURPOSE:To stabilize a quartz oscillator by increasing an equivalent series resistance value of the main oscillation of B mode to >= twice of that of the main oscillation of C mode, and reducing the possibility of oscillation by the main oscillation of B mode, in the twice rotation Y plate quartz oscillator. CONSTITUTION:In the twice rotation Y plate quartz osillator where the electric field is vertically energized by use of a twice rotation Y plate whos rotary angle phi around the Z axis, shown by IRE rotation display (yxwl)phi/Qtheta is 18 deg.<=phi<=24 deg., a quartz oscillator having the structure installed to the holding unit 305 is formed by providing an electrode film 304 on both the planes of a quartz plate 301 having such a rectangular shape as the relation of length and thickness of the side 303 in the Z direction of the quartz plate 301 becomes <=65 length/thickness of the side in the Z direction, and also the relation of length of the side 302 in the X direction and length of the side 303 in the Z direction becomes <=0.73 length of the side in the Z direction/length of the side in the X direction. According to the twice rotation Y plate quartz oscillation having said structure, since B mode is suppressed more than C mode, an equivalent series resistance of the main oscillation of B mode can be increased to >= twice of that of C mode. |
