ELASTIC SURFACE WAVE ELEMENT

PURPOSE:To obtain an elastic surface wave electrode having a good frequency- temperature characteristics and a high yield, by selecting the angle formed by the axis Z' after rotation and the propagating direction of the elastic surface wave for the quartz rotary plate Y that is shown by an angle of (YXl)theta of the IRE standard. CONSTITUTION:The theta-degree rotation Y-cut quartz substrate 1 is obtained by cutting the Y-cut plate with an angle that is turned by a degree of theta counterclockwise centering on the axis X. The cross-finger type transducer T is formed by the comb-shaped electrodes 2 and 2' and in the direction of a degree of xsi based on the axis Z' of the rotary Y-cut plate to perform an excitation and reception of the elastic surface wave. The relation between the angles theta and xsi is set as theta=(0.035<2>+ 35.88)+ or -0.2 to improve the frequency-temperature characteristics in the vicinity of the room temperatures.
