Load equalising swivel crane hook - has formed fork to give equal tension throughout chain link

The crane hook is used to spread the load on a chain sling. A link (2a) of the chain (2) fits inside two conical projections (9a) formed so that the adjacent links (2b,2c) do not touch. This fork (9a) can swivel in a bush (8) machined in the main body of the hook (1). When the load is taken on the chain it is distributed equally on either side of the link, allowing the full nominal working load of the chain to be utilised. A projection (7) prevents the chain from slipping from the hook.
