The stripper is used to make a slit along the cable sheath and is cranked along using a handle (2) which has a toothed base (3) driving along the cable sheath (14). The cutting blade (4) is fixed to a piston (7) in the body of the cutter (1) and is changed using fixing screw (6) which screws into the piston (7). When not in use the blade (4) is retracted into the body (1) of the cutter still attached to the piston assembly (7). An adjustment screw (15) mechanism is provided to adjust the cutting depth of the blade (4) and is a piston (7) assembly adjuster. To cut the piston assembly (7) must be pressed down to expose the blade (4). If pressure on the blade is released because the cutting is finished or the blade slides off the work, the blade automatically springs back into the cutter housing (1).
