The work carrying surface for wooden workpieces is supported by a framework (2) with a sunken region (5) between two rectangular frame portions (69) between which the surfaces can slide. The inner surfaces carry two rails (15,16) along the top, to act as runners for the sliding work carrier, which has rollers attached, rotating against the runners. The work carrier can be locked in position by a locking lever mounted at its end. An adjustable stop formed by a cross bar (11) is fitted between the two rectangular frame parts. A weight adjusting mechanism and indicator are incorporated. The sliding frame (7) has cross members (12) with a flat support (17b) one end travelling on a frame runner, and an angle (17a) travelling on another runner.
