<p>A device for measuring the movement of plant components which are subjected to mechanical stresses and/or temperature changes, is as follows. A guide element (4) containing two mutually perpendicular bores is attached to the plant component; inside the bores tubes (5,6) each having a writing nib (11) at the end are mounted so that they can slide axially against spring force; the nibs (11) are applied by the forces of the springs onto two mutually perpendicular writing panels (12,13) mounted in a fixed position, so that a written graph of the movements in two perpendicular planes is obtd. Pref. each tube (5,6) contains a wooden pencil with a steel needle as the writing nib. Slits in each of the panels (12,13) and a bore (19) at the corner between them enable marks to be made on the writing sheets (14,15). Used in obtaining long-term recordings of movements of plant in nuclear power stations, partic. ducts etc. It may be used for static and for dynamic movements. The apparatus operates over long periods with minimum maintenance.</p> |
