PURPOSE:To improve the safety, durability, etc. and reduce the cost of a traction elevator, by using a lubricating oil having a suitable friction between a driving rope wheel with a low evaporation amount as a main rope lubricating oil. CONSTITUTION:A lubricating oil having a friction coefficient >=0.1 with a driving rope wheel and an evaporation amount <=1wt% at 105 deg.C for 8hr is applied to a main rope. Squalane (a hydrocarbon oil of C30H62 and hexamer of C5H8 isoprene) is preferred as the lubricating oil for the main rope, and a viscosity increasing agent, e.g. a high-melting hydrocarbon wax or polymethacrylate ester, a rust preventing agent, e.g. a metallic salt of an organic sulfonic acid, and an oiliness improver, e.g. zinc dithiophosphate, are preferably added to the squalane as a base oil. |
