CANADIAN PATENT APPLICATION OF JAN ANDERSSON FOR A DEVICE FOR PREVENTING INSECT ATTACKS ON PLANTS AND A TOOL FOR SETTING OUT THE DEVICE The invention relates to a device for preventing attacks by insects and larvae, especially pine weevils and bark beetles, on pine and spruce plants and the like, comprising a casing enclosing the plant. The novelty resides in that the device, which consists of thin, relatively rigid foil material of such a nature that its strength is reduced after a predetermined time, comprises a generally cylindrical envelope which is closed at the top, a number of narrow slits arranged along the envelope and defined by inwardly extending flanges, a seat located at the bottom for a suitably cup-shaped seed or plant carrier preferably made of natural material and adapted to be fitted in the cylindrical portion, and flaps arranged at the bottom and projecting obliquely from the cylindrical portion, said flaps being designed to form supporting and holding means engaging the ground and stabilizing the device. |
