<p>The perfuser is operated off a LV, DC supply provided by a battery or rechargeable cells, or if required directly from the mains via an adapter. It uses a miniature peristaltic pump comparable in size to a pocket calculator operated by a miniature motor with electronic control and regulation. Each of the units may be attached to a belt worn around the waist or contained in a pouch. The perfuser also incorporates a device for detecting air bubbles coupled to audible and visual alarms, a display indicating the flow in cubic centimetre hours and programming keys, for fully automatic operation. The perfuser is designed to allow complete flexibility of movement, with both hands being left free. It can also be used for emergency services where no mains supply is available, e.g. in ambulances or helicopters.</p> |
