The cosmetics applicator (10) comprises a cylinder (12) divided into two chambers (24,26) by a piston (22). One chamber (24) can be filled with cosmetics and carries a releasable (41) nozzle (34,35) through which the cosmetic is dispensed via a valve (16,17) spring-loaded (13) to close. The other chamber (26) has a connection (20) for propellant gas (from 19). A central rod (30), sealingly (23) extending through the piston, can engage the valve disc (17) and is coupled (via 19 and 44) to a venting seal (45) in the connection (20) such that, on introducing the cosmetic via the valve (16), the valve disc (17) pushes the rod (30) thus causing the vent (20,44,45) to open.
