The generator comprises a magnetically conductive shutter (1) attached to a rotating shaft (2), so as to periodically move past a permanent magnet (6) and an associated Hall generator (5). The shutter (1) has a perpendicular vane (4) passing between the magnet (6) and the Hall generator (5) to provide a magnetic short-circuit path together with an L-shaped magnetically conductive yoke (8) mounted at the same angular position on the magnetically conductive shaft (2) and contacting the opposite face of the magnet (6). The Hall generator (5) together with the magnet (6) and the yoke (8) can be angularly adjusted relative to the shaft (2) in dependence on the output of a press sensor in the carburettor suction pipe. The generator is unaffected by HF interference.
