Control monitor for microcomputer systems - has subroutine code words that are compared with check values to identify errors

A control monitor for use with microcomputer systems in motor vehicles is designed to identify errors in the sequence of commands generated. Typically the flow diagram of the system is based upon a number of part programmes (A to Z), with certain subroutines represented in parallel (c). After execution of a specific subroutine a code word is generated and is entered into a register. The code word in the form of an 8 bit word. When all subroutines have been executed a step in the programme (10) causes all stored words to be compared with stored checking codes. In the event of an error being identified the cycle may be retriggered to locate the source.
