<p>Optical fibre acoustic or pressure-sensitive sensor encloses the optical fibre in the shape of a spiral. The surrounding block has the shape of a cylinder which is made of thermoplastic or thermosetting material; the optical light guide fibre has been produced from molten silicate. The sensor element(10) consists of a spiral-shaped optical fibre (11), made of molten silicate, which is embedded in a block(12) of a material with a lower modulus of elasticity. This can be a thermoplastic or a thermosetting material, e.g. silicone rubber or polyurethane. The sensor has a greatly improved responsiveness.</p> |
