The connector comprises an upper and lower half (1) plastic body with the fastening clip hinged on pivots (3) on the lower half. A securing spring (16b) engages with clip and body to hold the connector halves together in the closed position. In order to eliminate the tendency of the clip sides (5a) to spring off the pivot pins (3), the free limb forming one side of the slot (8a) for the pivot (3) is cranked inwards (11a). The free end (20a) of the securing spring thus fits outside the bent section (13a) and prevents the clip from springing off the pivot pin (3). The bent section (13a) also forms a bearing surface for the spring end (20a) and prevents it wearing away the side of the connector housing with repeated use.
