An air-noncontract type blood sampling assembly, for collecting arterial blood without entrainment of ambient air, comprises: (A) a sampling container including: (a) a tubular body with a small circumferential rib adjacent to the forward end; (b) a needle-pierceable elastomeric stopper hermetically inserted into and sealing the forward opening of the tubular body, (c) a columnar gasket for slidable movement in the tubular body under arterial blood pressure, and having means to ensure air-tight contact with the tubular body, (d) blood anticoagulant in amt. slightly larger than the pre-determined amt. contained in the tubular body between the stopper and the gasket and (e) a plunger secured to the gasket; (B) a cylindrical transparent holder having an open rear end and a restricted forward end formed with a threaded hole, the holder embracing the sampling container; (C) a needle with a hub which can be screwed into the threaded hole in the holder. |
